Breaking the Silence

10 months and so very much has happened and changed! I think I will try to do some sort of a catch up post at some point. This blog really is for me and my memories so why not. Anyhow, bedtime tonight prompted my need to share my thoughts.

I was rocking Gavin and singing a few songs just like every night. But tonight he was just over the top ooie gooie sweet! He was singing right along with me. Meet Us in the Place, Sunshine, and Down By the Boardwalk were the nights request. He gripped his sweet little hands into the back of my hair and neck. And was just kissing my cheeks between phrases of the songs. Talk about heart melting. God has given me such a gift in my sweet Gavin!

San Diego: Last Night at the Beach

The beach is such a powerful reminder to me of God's amazing power and love. The soft sand and crashing waves as sweet as our fathers love and and strong as his guiding hands. The beach always leaves me feeling refreshed and reminded that no matter what my God, the same God who created the mighty ocean loves me more than anything. I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed with thanks watching my sweet boys chase the water, search for shells and play in the sand. Thank you God for time with my family in a an amazing place where your creativity abounds in the beauty of your works!

San Diego: Fun at the Resort!

I didn't get nearly enough pictures of all the great things the resort had to offer. It was really such a nice place to stay! There was a family pool with a spray park, kids hot tub, pirate ship playground, dolphin minature golf, and more! Garrison was in LOVE with it all. Our last day there he wanted to say goodbye to everything. The last night there we went for our last swim. He wanted me to "take pictures so we'd never forget the fun!" Precious little guy! Here are a few of those shots!

San Diego: Children's Museum

We spent a really fun afternoon at the Childrens Museum. The boys had a BLAST it was a magical place right in the middle of down town San Diego. Fun to just let them play and explore in a relaxed atmosphere.

San Diego: Zoo!

I might have been the most excited about our day at the zoo! I have amazing memories of my first trip to the zoo when I was about 7. I was in love with the Panda Bears and I still have the Panda pin my parents bought me that day. So I was thrilled to share this with my boys! So many amazing animals in one place. It was a really great day, nice and cool and at the end of the day it even started to rain. I had never been to the zoo in the rain and it was an amazing experience. The animals seemed to be loving the rain. They were so active and happy! Gavin loved all of the animals. He seemed to think they were all bears. Garrison had a very up close experience with a Cheetah, he was in awe and if you ask him about the zoo its the first thing he will tell you about. But the funniest part of the day had to be when we rode the air tram to cross the zoo. My dad does not like heights a trait that he passed on to me and I guess I have now passed it on to Garrison. Garrett and I took Gavin and off we went. Me with my eyes closed the entire time, just grinning and bearing it. Gavin LOVING being an "airplane". We get off and expect to see Garrison and my parents in the next cart but we look as see just my mom. I guess Garrison threw a fit and my dad jumped at the chance to take the bus instead of the air tram. So the 4 of us got a little snack and waited for my dad and Garrison to arrive. Twenty minuets and one snack later we were all together again and off to see some more animals.

San Diego: Sea World

On Tuesday we headed over to Sea World! What a FUN day! It was the perfect place for our boys. They have a really great play area perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. The shows were amazing. I was actually blown away by the dolphin show! I had never been to Sea World and I was so glad we took a day to do it!

San Diego Trip: Part 2

The first activity we had planned for our time down there was simply a Beach Day! I couldn't wait to get my feet in the sand and see what the boys thought of the beach. I have so many great memories of family beach days growing up so I hoped this would be the start of the same for our boys. I am pretty confident it was a success! Gavin loved digging in the sand and finding rocks and shell but he wasn't a fan of getting in the water. I was actually relieved that he wasn't making mad dashes for the water all day! Garrison on the other hand couldn't get enough of the water and that was where he spent nearly our entire time there. Papa even taught him to boogies board. He caught more waves than his Daddy! It was an awesome day. The best part was no sandy car ride home, just a quick walk across the street back to the resort.
